The Town is kicking off a strategic planning process by inviting residents of all ages to share their dreams for the Town’s future at an informal open house Monday, Jan. 29, at the Philip S. Miller Library.
The open house represents the dreaming, or true visioning phase of the strategic planning process. All who attend the open house will be asked to share their dreams and visions for Castle Rock in areas that were prioritized as part of the original 2020 community visioning process that took place in 2000.
Because the original process occurred six years ago and the Town’s population has more than doubled since then, it’s time for a “vision check” -- an evaluation of the Vision 2020 document and its priorities and a determination whether our prescription for the future needs some correction.
Vision check is the theme of the strategic planning process, an 18-month community project to define the vision of Castle Rock’s future and develop financial and implementation strategies for achieving the vision.
“We said at the outset that community participation is going to be key to the success of the strategic planning process. I hope people will take advantage of this opportunity to tell us what they want the future to hold for their children and grandchildren. We’ll be listening, so come talk to us,” said Mayor Randy Reed.
The Jan. 29 strategic plan kickoff open house is designed to be fun and informal. Each attendee will receive a card on which to register their dreams after the visit and talk with Town staff and Council members at stations representing such vision elements as family friendly, vibrant downtown and quality development. Attendees also will be invited to play a “Sim Castle Rock” game that involves investing a limited amount of play money in the quality of life and service areas they deem most important.
A light dinner will be served free during the open house and children are welcome to attend and share their dreams for Castle Rock’s future. The Philip S. Miller Library is at 100 S. Wilcox St.,
Don’t miss this chance to help the community get a clear vision of the future. Stop by the Strategic Plan open house anytime between 6 and 8 p.m. and dream a little, dream a lot. Prizes and giveaways are in the offing for the biggest dreamers.
